A IDHL (isolated depression in high levels) is a depression or a low pressure point in the high part of the atmosphere, this creates a cold zone under it, that could be dangerous in the Mediterranean because of the temperature of the water, that water is very hot that it would actually be, that creates a group of clouds with a lot of water that eventually will precipitate, that is what happened in Valencia, it rained the precipitation of one year in 8h 6’.

All of this started at the cliffs of Catarroja, Chiva and the Poyo’s cliff, in which it rained and overwhelm the cliffs and also the affluents because of the excessive water of the rainfall, that overwhelm caused an avalanche that flooded all the town around, furthermore the flatness of Valencia helped the water to go way down to the Albufera, witch end up flooded and overwhelm, that water (helped by the flatness of Valencia) went in avalanche to the most of the towns of the south, furthermore the capital fortunately didn’t get affected of that because of the detour of the Turia.
